Happy Birthday to Kate!

Well I can't believe it is true, but I have a ONE YEAR OLD!! What the?! When did this happen?! Oh yeah a year ago. I just can't believe how fast she grew up! Pretty soon she's going to go from a little baby girl who adores me, to a teen who can't stand me..ugh I dont think i'm even ready to think about that quite yet! So i'll just start with year one. Well her birthday is on January 17th, which was on a monday this year. Well due to bobby's school schedule, it wasn't going to be possible to throw the big family/friend party. So we decided to just do a little family with just us three on monday and then the big party on saturday. Well in Bobby's school, he has to get 90% on his tests every two weeks. The test is on fridays, so if he passes it with 90% on friday, he gets monday off. So he passed on friday, which means all day off on monday! So we started the day out with presents from mom and dad, then a nice breakfast of oatmeal, then her morning nap. After the nap we decided to go to the zoo because it was so warm outside. So we went to the zoo and it was SO much fun! The animals were so active that it was so fun to watch them and Kate loves it of course. The zoo is Kates favorite place, she goes crazy while watching the animals.  Like I said the animals were so active, an example is when the giraffe bent all the way down and tried to lick Kates foot! I have never seen a giraffe that close! Then, we went to the rhinos and they were running back and forth like crazy playing a tag game. I have never seen the rhinos even move everytime i've gone, and here they are playing tag and running into eachother! It was honselty the most fun i've had at the zoo.

After the zoo, we went to the Mayan resaurant because Kate, like her dad, LOVES water, just like to watch water and waterfalls. So needless to say, she loved the Mayan. During one of the shows bobby took her to the splash zone and both of them got soaked! Yet she was loving every minute of it! And what made it even better, was that teh food was actually really good, the last few times I went there, the food was awful but the atmosphere was great. This time everything was great! After the Mayan, Kate was getting tired so we went home for some dessert. I wanted to give her the chocolate cake on her big party coming up on saturday so Kate just got some vanilla ice cream for dessert and she loved it! It wasn't even too cold for her, she just dove right in. It was honestly one of the best days we've had, I loved every moment of it, especially the last few moments before I put her to bed and my little one year old leaned up and gave me a big kiss on my cheek then laid her head on my chest..yes, definitely a precious moment.

Now the big birthday party!! Well we invited family and friends to come to our building in the lounge and have a big birthday party for Kate. It was so fun and Kate got so many fun gifts! It was so nice of everybody to come and bring such cute gifts, Kate didn't want to stop playing with them to go to bed! I have to say though, throwing a party for Kate was so muc harder than just doing a birthday for bobby. There was so much more planning and work involved and obviously it was so worth it! The funny thing was though, is that yes it was a lot of work to plan, but it was still so much fun at the same time. So the party was at 4 and we served chili and chicken noodle soup and bread etc. then some cake and ice cream. Everyone ate then Kate opened all of the great presents, well I mostly did with the help of all of the kids of course! So after that it was time fore cake and ice cream. I made kate her own chocolate birthday cake for her to devour, or at least play with. So I stripped her down to her diaper and we all sang happy birthday to her then watched her explore her cake. She eventually got it everywhere, which is what I was waiting for. Then she was done and cried to get down, so after some help from my sis in law we finally got her cleaned up enough to put her down to go back to playing. After that people slowly left, it was just so much fun! I enjoyed the whole night and loved seeing everyone! And finally after scrubbing the floor to get the chocolate out of the carpet (which I did thank goodness) and when everything was cleaned up, I gave kate a bath and found chocolate cake in evert little fold of skin (guess i didn't clean her up as well as I thought) and put her to bed just in time to watch my saturday night murder mystery documentary. Such great birthday parties for Kate!! Still can't believe my baby girl is growing up!!

Just Stuff

Well here I am, posting on my blog when I should be doing the endless homework for my Schools and Society class. But hey this is much more interesting. Being that I just started this blog I figure I might as well list some interesting things about our little family to pass the time, especially since I have nothing really too interesting to write other than my little girl is lovin this whole "miss independent" phase, which is both frustrating and adorable at the same time, how that is possible is beyond me. As well as the fact that as stated above I really should be doing homework. Well that's about it so here are some things about us:

    Bobby
  • Loves to play, watch and talk about basketball & pretty much any other sport as often as he can (which sadly isn't as often as he would like because of school)
  •  Does not like to read books at all
  •  LOVES movies
  •  Owns over 500 dvds, which is great for me! I guess I should say WE own them cha ching!
  •  Hates onions uncooked but will tolerate them cooked and mixed in something so he doesn't see them
  •  Loves our little girl and she definitely has him wrapped around her little finger
  •  Is good at pretty much everything, and he knows it (so humble too right?)
  •  Chickened out asking me to dance when we first met..causing me to then be the first to ask.. giving him the name pansy that will last forever
  • Will eventually turn Manda into a feminist because of all of the sexist comments/jokes made daily
  • Talks & walks in his sleep, one time to the point of putting on a pair shorts in his sleep
  • Only likes to take baths, yes even bubble baths at times, my manly man

                                                                              Manda

  •   Has had 13 kidney infections in a two year period...so fun!
  •  Swears by Vitamin C as the cure for her kidney infections (trust me, it works)
  • Loves her life as a stay at home mom, which is surprising considering she loved to work so much before!

                                                                                   Kate
  • Is about to turn 1
  • Little miss independent
  • Signs 5 signs

  • She's a little smarty pants
  • Speaks her own language that sounds roughly like Chinese

Saturday, January 1, 2011

Ok I have never blogged before, in fact I didn't know anyone really blogged until recently only to find out that EVERYONE blogs! So I thought why not? Then to add to it, I have started it on January 1st! The perfect day to start a resolution, so here is one of mine, blogging. So to introduce myself even more than the little "about me" section, I have the love of my life Bobby, my little angel/diva Kate and my goofy/over protective weinder dog Oli. Right now we live in a condo and are trying to get through the last little bit of school. Bobby is nearing the end of pharmacy school (a little over a year left woohoo!) and I'm slowly getting near the end of my school in elementary education as well (a little over a year as well). Bobby's school has tests every two weeks so that's a lot of fun for both of us. Especially Bobby who gets to do the hours and hours of studying for them. I am a stay at home mom and I honestly love it, not to mention I keep pretty busy with seemingly endless homework, my little miss independent Kate, house chores (blah), errands, running (LOVE IT) and spending time with Bobby. OH! And now blogging ;)

Kate is about to turn 1 in a few weeks and I honestly can't believe it! How fast 2010 flew by! Its hard to believe that a year ago I still had a baby inside me, now to see a crawling and sometimes walking (with her walker) beautiful little girl in my home. It truly is amazing how life can change so dramatically, yet in such a wonderful way. Well I think that is all the introduction that is needed for right now as I am new to this and don't totally know what to say! But there it is, my life!
